Product Description
Learning to ride a bicycle can be challenging for both kids and parents. The Glide to Ride bike provides children with a better way to learn by teaching them balance first ? the most essential skill in learning how to ride a bike. The Glide to Ride bike features two modes and grows with the child.

Kids begin using it in 'glide' mode. In this mode, unlike traditional bicycles, the Glide to Ride bike does not have pedals or training wheels. In 'glide' mode, riders are closer to the ground and use their feet to push along, giving them more control and allowing them to build self confidence.

When they are ready to graduate to 'ride' mode, the bike easily converts with screw-on pedals. The Glide to Ride does not require assembly - the chain and gears are already on the bike in a protective housing. Just screw the pedals on and it's ready to ride! Includes bike, handlebars, pedals, Allen wrench, handlebar pad and instructions. Measurements: 7.1" x 35" x 20". Weight Capacity approximately 55 lbs.

5 out of 5 stars Playskool glide 2 ride review - LOVE IT!   December 27, 2008

This is a fantastic bike for 2 yrs and up or even younger if they're taller than normal. We "made"a balance bike by removing training wheels and cutting off permanent pedals (that were located off of the front when - totally wrong place balance-wise when you are learning to ride a real bike anyway)off a $20 bike from Target over 6 months ago. it worked great for our then 18 month old. At first he was clumsy with it, but after a couple of days, he had the hang of using his feet to balance AND motor himself around. We looked forever for a tiny size bike (most kids are not riding a real bike by 2, right) forever and could only find one this small that had pedals that was European, it was very expensive, much less shipping it here. Anyway, this bike is perfect for our 26 month old son, he will likely be pedaling with the pedals within 2 months. Although he is extremely athletic, our daughter who is normal in her athleticism, was riding her bike right before 3 yrs old, but it's only b/c we had just learned about balance style bikes and came up with a homemade one for her as well. We love it!

The tire size for this bike is 12 inches with an inflatable tube but it sits lower than our Tonka 12 inch bike with training wheels. I bought this bike for my 2 year old but it is still to big for him. The minimum seat height is 15.5 inches. So, I used it on my smaller 5 year old to gain his confidence. My 5 year old was speeding around on a 16 inch bike with training wheels. After 4 30 minute sessions gliding with this bike my 5 year old was successful at riding without training wheels and with pedals down hill. After adding the pedals the bike is small for him and I will now put the bike away for my small 2 year old to use next year.

My neighbor saw how well the 5 year old was doing so quickly and is going to borrow it for her 5 year old.

Of course to get the best value out of this bike you would be better off getting this bike around 3 years old so you can use it with the pedals too.
