Designed for children ages three to about six (65-pound maximum weight per passenger), the Power Wheels Jeep Hurricane looks just like a real Jeep! And it operates with a real steering wheel and a foot pedal. Powered by a rechargeable 12-volt battery, the Jeep can drive up to five miles per hour. The car is designed to travel at a max of 2.5 MPH at first, when your child is a beginning driver. When he or she becomes more experienced, just remove the safety mechanism to reach maximum speed! The vehicle also features a specially designed safety braking system, which automatically stops the vehicle when the foot is removed from the pedal. The jeep can also go in reverse at up to 2.5 MPH. The jeep includes features such as a simulated navigation system, cool sound effects, a digital clock, and a working "fuel gauge" that monitors battery level. Ride in Style!

Love The Jeep, Hate Amazon's Shipping January 6, 2009

Our son loves this Jeep. We live on a wooded lot and it has no problem going over the tree roots. The wheels aren't rubber, so traction is a bit of a problem. Fisher Price should change to rubber tires. Our son is only 2 and now knows (with a little help) how to put it in forward and reverse. Unfortunately, it doesn't have enough power at 2.5mph to make it up a small hill.
We ordered this Jeep in the first week of December, with plenty of time for Christmas. It shipped from PA within 3 days. However, two weeks later, we didn't have our Jeep. After many e-mails and phone calls (to Amazon AND Ceva), it finally arrived around Dec 15. Because of the headache, Amazon gave us free shipping.
This item is great, but Amazon's shipping is horrible. If you can find it in a store, buy it there.

What a nightmare!!! Got this toy shipped to Antigua for my 2 and 4 year old for christmas . Paid over 75% in duties and freight. Christmas morning we assembled it and and found the gear assembly was bad and the truck would not move. Needless to say my kids were dissapointed I called Fisher Price yesterday for a replacement part. They were unhelpful and wanted me to return the entire truck. Hard to do when you are 1300 miles away over the ocean. I pleaded for the small replacement gear and they refused!! I ended up buying 2 gear assemblies from a wholesaler in Miami. What terrible service, Fisher Price could of helped me out. I would never buy another toy from these guys again!!!!

I bought the mattel power wheels jeep hurricane for my son for Christmas. I opened up the box and there's no plastic bag of fasteners in it anywhere. I tore up the box and parts looking for the plastic bag of fasteners which is a necessity to put the whole thing together. Nothing! I called the 800 service number expecting them to be able to ship me a bag of fasteners within a few days or so. Worthless! The lady at the other end gave me a number for a repair place about 20 miles from my house where I am supposed to be able to get the fasteners. I called them. I got a recording and they seem more interested in servicing appliances and car stereos than Power Wheels toys. Very disappointing! A waste of my time. I will never buy another Power Wheels toy ever. Never! Don't waste your time or your money with these toys. Your kids will learn to drive real cars soon enough! Big fat zero for MATTEL and there lack of customer service after the sale. I'd like to take this big bunch of Chinese plastic junk and dump it right on Mattel CEO Bob Eckert's doorstep!

My son uses this Jeep and it holds up very well under punishment. The charger stop working and the company was eager to please and sent me a new charger, no fee. This is a toy that kids will enjoy all year round and I have not seen anything that would lead me to believe it is not safe.

Best purchase ever, not just the product but the response from Mattel/Fisher Price. Our jeep had a cracked seat when it arrived so I called the 800 348 0751 and expressed the issue and with absolutely no Heee-Hawin around a new seat is on its way. I later noticed that the key was no where to be found and again called that 800# and just as quick as I finished a new one was on its way. I am not use to such quick response from ANY company. Customer Friendly should be added to all their products. Oh, I spoke with a live person as well so as you can tell I'm living is SHOCK CITY. As far as the Jeeps performance so far so good and I look forward to many years of service out of this baby.
I'll update later on the actual performance as my lil guy get use to it.
