My daughter received this toy for her fourth birthday and loved it. I, however, hate it. The "sand" makes a huge mess, the colors are impossible to keep separate, and it's too much for a four year old to clean up on her own, so I wind up spending a good 10-15 minutes on cleanup. After one use inside, I deemed it an outside toy, but even that didn't help make cleanup shorter because you still have to scoop all the sand back into bottles with small openings. I suppose if you got a real funnel and a big spoon, that would help, but this is supposed to be a self-contained toy. The sand itself feels like glass to me, but I have no idea what kind of material it is. My daughter enjoys it for all the reasons I despise it -- it's messy and there's water involved, but aside from pouring sand into the tank, there's really not much to play with. If you want to really annoy a parent, this would be a great toy to give a child.

My daughter wanted this for her birthday so badly after seeing the commercials for it! We got it for her and she was just ecstatic! That however, was short lived. The toy is tiny, difficult to fill and a HUGE mess! She was unable to "sculpt" anything and the cardboard scenery on the back fell apart as soon as it got wet. She liked that the sand, when removed from the water, became instantly dry. But, beyond that, it was a complete disappointment. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!!!!! I'm going to try to take it back; it's that ridiculous and cheap!

I was worried about all the negative reviews, but my daughter really wanted to get this toy. Hesitantly I bought it and to my surprise she absolutely loves it! Sure the tank is smaller than you would think, but that didnt seem to bother her. She has tons of fun sculpting the sand and perfecting her towers under water. After a few trys she has managed to mix all the sand colors together (which is next to impossible to avoid) but it doesnt really affect the play.
bottom line: I had one happy daughter and a toy that kept her busy. I would definitley recommend it.

My 7 year old daughter bought this toy for her sister's birthday. The tools are inappropriate. The castle is too little and does not get clamped down and floats in the water. As per my daughter, this toy is no fun at all. The total interaction with the toy lasted 5 minutes and she was ready to dump it.

Would not recomend for kids with sensitive kids, my daughter could no longer play after only 5 minutes. It left a red irritiation and burning sensation.
