5 out of 5 stars The bigger the better - keep 'em coming   August 27, 2010
Rand Huso (Duvall, WA USA)
This one is the first deviation from the standard cubic format, but if you calculate the angles, you'll see it had to be done. Turning this too fast almost twisted pieces out of place, which is why I have a slight question about durability. Nothing bad happened, I suppose I just worry a lot. If it does come apart it would be a nightmare to get it back together. There's how many moving parts?! Still, I'm looking forward to the next sizes up, and meanwhile I'm enjoying this one. I told my boss we should use it as an interview question. :-p

5 out of 5 stars MIND BOGGLING   August 24, 2010

For a week i was so excited to receive my 7X7X7 V-Cube. i had planned out how i was going to solve it in my head. i thought i could do it in 13 minutes so my dad challenged me. for every minute under that i make, i get $10. it took 2 hours and 23 minutes. i didnt lose any money, but it was fun and stimulating. i love it. sturdy, slides, a little greasy out of the package and no stand, but thats alright.

5 out of 5 stars Vcube 7x7 Review   July 6, 2010

I have been solving cubes for about 5 or 6 years now and the typical "big" cube binds and catches. This is NOT true with the Vcube. The Vcube almost barely binds. The layers practically glide between one another. I have had a few pops since I bought it, but when a cube has 200+ pieces, it's to be expected. So far, its my favorite brand. I can't wait for the bigger Vcubes to come out and hopefully they will make a 4x4, for I will buy all of these cubes without a doubt.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first picked up the Vcube 7, after having previously handled the Vcube 5. While I thought the 5 was sturdy, and easy to turn, I thought this one would be less so. I was wrong. The Vcube 7 is just as sturdy, and maybe a tad bit easier to turn, than it's smaller 5 layer counterpart, and the construction is second to none. If you need a challenge past the regular 3x3, or even 4x4 Rubik's, I highly recommend any of the Vcube products. They are far superior to any other cube I've tried, and more than worth the money.

As a side note, I've found an entirely new and fun way to play with this and any of the other Vcubes. Each cube is prone to the occasional piece popping out if you turn it the wrong way, or force it, so Vcube has graciously included instructions on how to put these cubes back together. I've found that intentionally taking the cube apart and then putting it back together can be an enjoyable activity, especially for people that like building toys such as Legos. I've taken this cube apart multiple times and put it back together, and it still turns and handles exactly like the day I took it out of the package. It's like getting a puzzle and a building set in one!

5 out of 5 stars Quality and quantity   May 12, 2010

For anyone who has used a standard (non-professional) Rubik's 4 and 5 layer, you know about constant general stiffness and resistance with misaligned layers. The V-Cube company really has solved those issues with both the 6 layer and the 7 layer (and I assume the 5 layer, but I don't have that yet). Right out of the package, the layers turned with great ease, and the layers "fall in" when turning a perpendicular slice instead of jamming up. The quality is through the roof! Also, the challenge really is higher. I opened up the 6 layer V-Cube, scrambled it and had it solved in 45 minutes on the first try, but I ran into a conundrum on the 7 layer that took me 2 weeks of tinkering to get past.
