Great Headphones for a Preschooler! June 26, 2010 Ami (Southern CA) I bought these headphones for my 3 1/2 yr old son so he could play his Leapster quietly on an airplane. I am quite happy with my purchase, as they fit his head well and are very durable. He has no trouble getting them on or off, or plugging them in. They are sturdy, and we haven't had any trouble with the sound breaking up or not working on one side. I give these headphones an A+++++ for a first pair for little ones!
Grandson did not like April 24, 2010 Pamela Green (Torrington, CT USA) Don't waste your money. Good concept but my grandson won't use them. He thinks they are heavy and he can't hear with them. I tried them myself and with other noise in a room it is very hard to hear. If you are using them alone in a room they are ok. My granson is 5.
Great idea but did not perform April 5, 2010 Erika Bonito (Seattle, WA) These are super tough, well-built headphones. If the sound quality was good and they worked with all sources, they would be perfect for my child. They are recommended for 3 and up but they fit my 18 month old as well. The sad part is they emitted almost no sound when plugged into either of my CD players. They worked better with my I-Pod though. The sound quality is almost poor, however. I'm not sure if I was dealing with a defective product here, but the 'sound reduction' feature seemed to make the sound grainy like a poorly tuned radio station. The headphones I received would not work well in the car where there is a lot of noise. The cord is a good length for use by a child but it would make plugging into the car's system difficult without an extension. If I was dealing with a defective set, you may have better luck. This product has a great idea behind it, maybe the redesign could be tweaked a little to improve performance.
Great headphones...unless you actually want to HEAR something! February 25, 2010 S. Pichner (Minneapolis, MN) My 5 year old got these for Christmas and was going to use them in the car while playing his Leapster. He kept complaining that they didn't work. I thought he was doing something wrong, but he wasn't. The volume is so quiet that I couldn't hear a single word, no matter how hard I tried to listen. We returned them to the store and I bought him a pair of Kidz Gear headphones on Amazon. Problem solved! For the same price, he gets a much more comfortable pair that he can listen to anywhere. They don't have the strict volume control of the Fisher Price or Sony - the pair I bought for my two year old and had the same issue as the FP ones...they went back to the store as well - but at least they can use them them in a quiet room or a loud car where people are talking around them. Both my boys know that I will do volume checks to be sure they don't have it too loud, and my oldest is sensitive to loud noise, so he never cranks it up anyway. If they plan on just using them in their bedrooms quietly, then I guess the FP ones are mediocre but usable. If you can hear sound out of them, it is scratchy and sounds horrible. Kids might not be as picky, but my son had a hard time understanding what his Leapster was saying. Waste of money....Buy Kidz Gear instead!
Worked well on a trip February 15, 2010 Thomas P. Grelinger We bought the headphones based on other parents' feedback here, and we agree with the feedback as well. It worked well on a couple of plane trips plus other times when we wanted our daughter to listen to movies quietly.
