1 out of 5 stars Wish it could have lasted longer.   August 15, 2010

It's a shame this helicopter dosen't last for more than a handful of flights; it is a great looking machine and deserves a bit more engineering. After about 20 minutes flight time (not all at once) the darn thing won't hover more than about six inches off the ground. I've taken it apart and cleaned up the gears and sprayed the motors/rotors with silicone spray. That bought a few more flights, but now it's pretty much been retired to the shelf. It is durable in that it will withstand some pretty nasty crashes, but the overall quality leaves a bit to be desired.

Another reviewer mentioned the Syma S-107 which I also own and can recommend, though it is a much smaller bird.

2 out of 5 stars It might be OK it the battery worked!   August 12, 2010

Hi

Bought one of these through Amazon from XHeli.
The first one didn't work because the battery wouldn't charge.
So I exchanged it for another one of the same kind.

Well to make a long story short I'm having the same problem with this one that arrived today.
I can't get the battery to take a charge. After a short time the light on the charger comes on.
My S006 takes an hour and a half to charge and I have tried the same charger on both.

I have a S006 that works fine, it flies for 8 or more minutes.
I can't get the S006G to fly for more then a minute and a half.

I have to say that when I does fly it flies great.

As with all these twin rotor helicopters you have to ad some weight to the nose to get it to fly faster, so that it will penetrate even a very slight wind. But even without the weigh it flies pretty well.

I have't decided whether to send this one back or try changing batteries.
I have to pay for the shipping ($12) to send it back and I've already done that once.
I'll soon have the cost of the thing in shipping.

Mike

1 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS.   August 4, 2010

Sorry to say but this is an awful heli. As the other reviewer said the engine components are made with cheap parts. It will not last very long. A handful of flights at most than the copter just wont fly that high anymore. I suspect the reason for the cheap parts was to keep the price down on a big mini. You get what you pay for as they say. Save your money and buy some better quality micros that will last much longer. The s-107 is an excellent micro.

3 out of 5 stars A lot of fun while it lasts   August 1, 2010

Thanks to the builtin gyro this helicopter flies stable enough to be flown indoors despite its size. If you are planning to fly it outside you better live in an area without any winds. A slight breeze will carry it away, even on the "fast" setting.

The biggest downside of this helicopter is the durability of the drive train. After a few weeks of fun, my flight times are getting shorter and shorter and the helicopter produces less and less lift. I believe the battery / motors are not up for the workload of hauling this relatively heavy helicopter around. This is the main reason I gave this helicopter a low durability rating. The rest of the helicopter is very durable and withstands crashes easily.
